⁍ Microsoft is chasing a deal to buy all of TikTok’s global business, the Financial Times reported on Thursday, citing five people with knowledge of the talks.
⁍ However, a source familiar with the discussions told Reuters that Microsoft had not raised the prospect of buying all of TikTok in its negotiations with ByteDance.
⁍ Microsoft had said it was seeking to buy the assets of TikTok in North America, Australia and New Zealand.
– TikTok, the wildly popular dance-sharing app, is in danger of being banned in the US if it doesn’t sell itself to Microsoft by Sept. 15, the Financial Times reports. Microsoft has been trying to buy TikTok’s operations in North America, Australia, and New Zealand for months, and the company has been in talks with TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, to see if there’s a way to add more regions to the deal, the FT reports, citing five people with knowledge of the talks. But sources tell Reuters that Microsoft has not raised the possibility of buying all of TikTok in its negotiations with ByteDance.
