According to the Wall Street Journal, the State Department has approved the sale of F-35 fighter jets, Harpoon anti-ship missiles, and other military equipment to Taiwan for a total value of around $5 billion. The sale is part of an effort by the Trump administration to increase pressure on China, which still considers Taiwan a part of China. The sale of the military equipment is one of five separate sales the White House has approved for Taiwan.
