– Iran’s foreign ministry on Tuesday summoned the French charge d’affaires over what it called “insults” directed at the Prophet Mohammed, Reuters reports. According to Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency, a ministry official told the diplomat that Iran “strongly rejected any insult and disrespect to the Prophet of Islam … and Islam’s pure values of Islam by any person regardless of their position.” The move comes in the wake of French President Emmanuel Macron’s remarks last week that were seen as critical of Islam.
