– Pandemic H1N1 is back in a big way in Europe, where infections have topped 10 million and hospitalizations are on the rise. So the European Union is ponying up $260 million to help hospitals across the 27-nation bloc transfer patients, Reuters reports. “The spread of the virus will overwhelm our healthcare systems if we do not act urgently,” said the head of the EU Commission. At a video conference today, EU leaders agreed to better coordinate efforts to fight the virus, and to get potential vaccines to the masses as soon as possible.
