– Two Democratic members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee sent a letter to FCC Chairman Ajit Pai on Wednesday asking whether he had “any contact with the White House or the Trump campaign prior to his decision to move forward with new regulations limiting key social media legal protections,” Reuters reports. The letter was signed by Reps. Frank Pallone and Mike Doyle and sent the same day Pai was set to testify before the House Energy and Commerce Committee about his agency’s plan to weaken net neutrality rules. According to the New York Times, Pai’s move to weaken net neutrality rules, which were put in place by the Obama administration to prevent internet service providers like Comcast and AT&T from giving preference to one service over another, was announced Tuesday. Democrats say Pai’s move to weaken net neutrality rules is an attempt by the Trump administration to roll back consumer protections. Pai says he doesn’t feel any pressure from the White House.
