– Authorities in Spain have ordered the slaughter of 92,700 mink after seven workers at a farm in the country’s northeast tested positive for a new virus, Reuters reports. The novel coronavirus, or Covid-19, has been seen in a variety of animals, including tigers at New York’s Bronx Zoo and a dog in Hong Kong. It’s not clear how the virus could be passed from animal to animal, but authorities believe cats may play a role, CNN reports. Covid-19 was found in three out of 11 cats at a mink farm in the Netherlands in May.
