– India has now seen a record 1 million confirmed cases of coronavirus, with 34,956 new infections in just 24 hours, making it the third country after the US and Brazil to see that many cases in a 24-hour period, CNN reports. The vast majority of those cases—about 80%—are in the capital of New Delhi, which is now the country’s coronavirus capital, according to the Times of India. The spread of the virus has also spread to other Indian cities, including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Karantaka. More than 400 million people in those three states are under quarantine, and health officials are urging people to follow simple precautions to avoid infection, including washing hands, coughing, and using face masks, Reuters reports.
