– A 62-year-old bicyclist in the Florida Keys is lucky to be alive after a close call with an iguana. The reptile ran in front of the man, causing him to lose control of his bike and tumble over the handlebars, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post. The man received stitches to his head and was treated at a hospital for scrapes on his arms and leg. “The condition of the iguana did not appear as stable,” the sheriff’s office said, later confirming that it had died. Keys residents are in a “constant battle” with iguanas, a sheriff’s spokesman tells ABC News. “They’re just everywhere. Cars hit them a lot on the highway.”
