– The Trump administration’s so-called “Remain Mexico Policy” is once again in the news, this time because the Department of Homeland Security says it will resume hearings for migrants who have been forced to wait in Mexico for an immigration hearing, CNN reports. The policy requires migrants to wait in Mexico for an immigration hearing until their next court date in the US, which can be months or even years away. The Department of Justice and Homeland Security announced Friday that they plan to resume hearings “in a responsible manner that will minimize risk to public health and the spread of disease,” and will provide public notification at least 15 days before the hearings resume.
