⁍ Andy Murray is fighting fit and ready to banish memories of his last visit to the U.S. Open.

⁍ The 33-year-old Briton has missed two of the last three editions of the tournament as he struggled to cope with a career-threatening hip injury.

⁍ Murray, whose last Grand Slam appearance was at the 2019 Australian Open, faces Japan’s Yoshihito Nishioka in the first round of the U.S. Open on Tuesday.

– For the first time in seven years, the US Open will feature no fans in Arthur Ashe Stadium when former champion Andy Murray plays his first-round match on Tuesday, reports Reuters. That’s because the stadium is being closed due to the outbreak of the coronavirus. Murray, who is competing for the first time in 20 months after hip surgery, is playing Japan’s Yoshihito Nishioka. It will be Murray’s first Grand Slam appearance since the Australian Open in January.
