⁍ Facebook removed a page for a militia group that posted a call to arms in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

⁍ The social media company said on Wednesday it had removed the page for the Kenosha Guard.

⁍ Facebook’s action came after two people were shot and killed during protests in the town on Tuesday night.

– Mark Zuckerberg says Facebook made an “operational mistake” when it didn’t act sooner to take down a Facebook page for a Wisconsin militia group. The company removed the page for the Kenosha Guard after complaints from “a bunch of people” about it, Reuters reports. “The contractors and reviewers who the initial complaints were funneled to basically didn’t pick this up,” Zuckerberg says. “And on second review, doing it more sensitively, the team that’s responsible for dangerous organizations recognized that this violated the policies and we took it down.” Zuckerberg says the company has no evidence that the person charged with killing two people during protests in Kenosha earlier this week followed the Kenosha Guard page, BuzzFeed reports.
